The Újpest Court of Justice was built between 1908-1909, during the reign of Francis Joseph, when the minister of justice was Antal Günther, and when Rónai Kamill, Royal Curian Judge, was the president of the Pest County Royal Court. It was built under the supervision of Cserba Ferenc, Royal High Court Judge and Head of the Royal Court, based on the plans of the architect Jablonszky Ferenc and was constructed by master builders, Kallos A. and Koch R. The basic area of the building, its character and its functions have not been changed for the last 90 years. The interior, though, has been modified to meet functional demands.
The Court of Justice’s area of responsibility was Újpest - even when Újpest had ceased to exist as an independent town - until capital districts were set up.
Since 1953 the Budapest 4th and 15th District Court of Justice has played the role of the the local judiciary for Újpest and Rákospalota.

The Budapest 4th and 15th District Public Prosecutor´s Office is also seated in the court building. The 4th and 15th District Land Registry Office and notaries public worked here until legal rearrangements took place.
Today the building is not spacious enough to serve judicial tasks. It possesses only 10 court rooms although at least 15 are needed.
